Hi. Thank you so much for visiting Comforting Anxious Children, a site devoted to helping anxious children find peace for their mind, body and spirit.
I’m a former special education teacher who is now a full time writer. I specialize in writing content for nonprofits and business clients who serve children and adults with disabilities. It’s a perfect way to blend my love for helping others with my passion for writing. My best friend has always said that I have a writer’s soul.
Like many of you, I’ve struggled with anxiety, and so have my children. When I was teaching, in a primary grade classroom, I had many students with anxiety. Students were anxious about tests, about challenges in their home life, about scary things in the news; and some children were anxious most of the time, but they didn’t know why.
I decided to create this site to learn more about the many ways to calm and comfort anxious children, and to share that information with other parents, caregivers, teachers and professionals.
When I’m not writing you’ll find me outside with my husband, kids and our three dogs. I love dogs and would have one of every breed if I could. My daughter and I dream of buying a huge farm and turning it into the biggest rescue shelter, ever.
Our dog, Melanie, is a therapy dog. Seeing the joy and comfort she brings to others has inspired a series of articles on service and therapy dogs and animals assisted therapy. Look for that on the blog in early 2017.
I live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland isn’t known for having the best weather, especially in the winter, but the people in this town are amazingly kind. It’s a wonderful place to call home.
Three things that describe me: I love writing, drinking tea and all things Snoopy! And of course, researching and writing about ways to help children with anxiety.
Let’s Keep in Touch!
